Creating Tournaments

Step-by-step guide to creating and configuring tournaments.

Quick Start

    Click "Create Tournament" from the dashboard

    Choose Singles, Doubles, Team, or Random Doubles

    Select a tournament format (Elimination, Rounders, Hybrid)

Tournament Creation Steps

Step 1: Basic Information

  • Tournament Name

    - Give your tournament a descriptive name
  • Team Type

    - Singles, Doubles, Team, or Random Doubles
  • Date/Time

    (optional) - Set for scheduling purposes
  • Location

    (optional) - Where the tournament will be held

Step 2: Choose Format

Step 3: Game Rules

Round Limits

Setting a round limit (like 10) ensures games finish in a predictable time. If neither player reaches the score limit, highest score wins.

Step 4: Format-Specific Settings

For Rounders

  • Number of Games

    - How many games each participant plays
  • Points per Win

    - Standings points awarded for wins

For Elimination

  • Best of X

    (optional) - For multi-game matches
  • Third Place Match

    - Whether to play for 3rd place

For Hybrid

  • Qualifying Games

    - Games in the rounder portion
  • Elimination Cutoff

    - Top X advance to bracket

Using Presets

If you run similar tournaments regularly, save your settings as a preset:

  1. Configure all your tournament settings
  2. Click "Save as Preset"
  3. Name your preset (e.g., "Weekly Singles League")
  4. Next time, just select the preset to auto-fill settings

Preset Contents

Presets save: format, game rules, team type, and all advanced settings. You'll still need to enter the tournament name and optional date/location.

After Creation

Once created, your tournament is in the "Not Started" state. From here you can:

  • Edit Details

    - Update tournament info
  • Open/Close Registration

    - Control sign-ups
  • Open/Close Check-In

    - Control attendance confirmation
  • View Entries

    - See who has registered
  • Start Tournament

    - When ready to begin play
